Dinas Rock - South Wales Sport

Dinas Rock is a superb limestone sport crag in close proximity to Swansea, offering a varied selection of over 100 sports routes on a clean, compact and user friendly cliff face. The crag also features almost 50 boulder problems (including links), making a fine destination for both visiting and local climbing athletes alike.

Ardnamurchan Climbing

Ardnamurchan is another ‘off the beaten track’ destination which wasn’t developed until the late nineties. Although no longer the preserve of locals it does take some effort to reach. For those prepared to make the extra 2 hours plus drive from Glencoe the rewards are perfect rock, fantastic climbing and amazing landscapes.

Cragging in NW Scotland

April 2011 seemed to be the time when most of the Rock + Run staff migrated up to the West Coast of Scotland at some point. George North was up there first, based around Torridon and then Reiff. A couple of weeks later Andy Hyslop and Mike Binks worked their way up from Gairloch to the far NW, stopping at...

Yorkshire Grit Bouldering Volume 2 Preview

The long awaited Yorkshire Grit Vol2 guide is set to hit the book shelves of climbing stores across the land this week, so I thought I’d give you a run down on which crags are featured, and which you should particularly aim to visit and why...

Lundy Island: An Adventure Playground

Superlatives seem inadequate when trying to describe the atmosphere of the island that sits in the Bristol Channel, just twelve miles from the North Devon coast.  The imposing granite cliffs found along its West coast possess a natural architecture that is as exquisite as it is unique.

Calgary Mull

Calgary is a small basalt crag on Mull which is not currently in any guide books. The climbing is pleasant and easily accessible. There is beautiful sandy beach close by with adjacent parking.

Portland - South Coast Sport Climbing

Over the last 20 years the Isle of Portland has been a consistently well known and well visited sport venue, offering over 900 'proper' bolted sport routes from 2 to 8b, as well as around 200 boulder problems. Located on the south coast of England, the Isle is connected to the mainland via the unusual feature of  Chesil Beach, an 18 mile natural 'barrier beach'.

Ansteys Cove - Devons Premier Sport Crag

I have more than once fought the corner for south west climbing. Along with Sharpnose, Ansteys Cove provides the core of my ammunition. What it lacks in quantity it sure makes up for in quality, as the guidebook puts it “if Carlsberg did climbing crags”...

Climbing on Barra

I recently returned from a climbing trip to the Island of Barra in the Outer Hebrides. Barra is better know as the jumping off point for the fantastic climbing on Pabbay and Mingulay to the south. As a result the climbing potential on Barra itself has...

Ullapool Bouldering

Looking for some new bouldering venues? Tired of the same old grit or polished limestone? Why not try bouldering on some of the oldest sandstone in the UK; it's 800 million years old and a mere 6 hours drive north of the border.
