Rock + Run was founded in May 1983. From our base in Ambleside we opened branches in Sheffield and later, Manchester. Rock + Run launched its first web site in 1994 at the very beginning of the internet era.

The loss making Manchester shop was closed at the beginning of 1997 as web sales started to increase. Regrettably, the well regarded and successful Sheffield shop also closed a few years later under pressure from large rent and rates increases.

With the purchase of a new mail order warehouse premises near Milnthorpe and the web business going from strength to strength the writing was on the wall for the Ambleside shop. When the opportunity came to sell Ambleside in 2007 Rock + Run became a fully fledged online retailer.

Over the last couple of years we have concentrated on developing our back office systems, and customer service. Whilst we are now primarily, a web mail order company we offer counter sales from our warehouse and we’re always pleased to see customers, new and old, who make the effort to seek us out.

Our plans for the future are to continue the development of our web business in a sustainable fashion for all concerned, while not forgetting our retailing routes and founding principals of excellent customer service and a good range of products.
